Private Lessons
COVID-19 Policy
Please read this update of lessons for the current COVID-19 epidemic
Lessons will be continuing on a normal schedule, but many safeguards are now in place for everyone’s safety and comfort. ZOOM lessons are also available.
While a student is in a lesson, you may listen in the waiting room next to the studio. Hand sanitizer will be placed at the front of the studio door for everyone to use.
Although the studio is spacious (both pianos / chairs will be about 12-14 feet from each other), you are advised to wear a mask for safety. For trumpet lessons, you may wear a musician’s mask or keep yours off during the lesson, as again you will be a fair distance from me in the studio and facing your own direction.
All equipment used is wiped down in-between every lesson. Any recording gear for recording-session lessons will only be used and applied by me, so the student need not worry about any physical contact beyond playing their instrument.
If you are waiting to go into the studio, please wait in your car until I signal you to come in. The process is simple: while you wait, I will guide the first student out, and wave you in to enter once the other student is on their way to their car. This is to reduce the amount of traffic coming in and out the front door, and keeping families together.
The above points are designed entirely for the safety of everyone involved. I greatly appreciate your patience with the current predicament, and thank you for your willingness to be accepting of safety measures.
Lesson Policy
All private lessons, piano or trumpet, are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. I do, however, reserve the right to lengthen or shorten lessons, according to preparation or material to be covered. Please inform me as to whether a student needs to leave on time or earlier, as I often end lessons either 2 minutes before or after the scheduled end time.
To cancel any lesson, you must contact me at my business email or call by phone at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise the charge will remain for that lesson. Exceptions can be made on an individual basis.
Summer Lesson Schedule
I teach throughout summer as well as the school year! If you would like to choose an earlier time in the day for summer lessons, the same 24-hour in advance standard remains. If you leave for vacation for 1-2 weeks, your scheduled slot will be saved for you when you return - no need to worry about losing your spot!
No matter the school, holiday or inclement weather schedule, I will conduct regularly-scheduled lessons. If I make any schedule changes (out sick/tour dates), you will be notified through email and/or telephone.
The charge per 30-minute lesson is $30, the charge per 60-minute lesson is $50. If you have 2 students who wish to take 30-minute lessons back-to-back, you have the option of a family rate at $50 per hour ($25 per half hour lesson). You may pay me at the beginning of the month for the month’s lessons, or pay me each week. Any lesson payment that is more than 2 weeks late, will be assessed a $5.00 per lesson late fee.
The above policy is given to every new student when they begin lessons. There are several reasons for the above policy. With the 24-hour advance cancellation call, I have the opportunity to book my students who study with me on a stand-by basis. Thank you for taking the time to read; I look forward to many years of music with you!
